Mostly Uninvited 214, 215 and 216

101-year-old John Crossley, who joined the Royal Navy against his parents wishes when he was 19 years old. He has never forgotten the horrific sights he saw. Taken from a leaflet sent by the Royal British Legion.

Harold Robinson, who served as a Royal Marine during the Second World War.

92-year-old George Skipper, who was on Gold Beach on D Day. He can’t understand how he survived unscathed. He stayed in Germany until 1947, helping to rebuild houses.
