Refridgerator By Allen Jones

Refridgerator by Allen Jones.

The Square is cut from a Royal Academy leaflet, advertising Jones’ retrospective in 2014. I visited this exhibition the same day I went to a Schiele exhibition at The Courtauld. Both exhibitions could have been perceived as pornographic. Yet, the Schiele I saw as being extremely beautiful, favourite exhibition of the year, in fact. The Allen exhibition, made me feel uncomfortable. I have never liked his work, but reserved judgement as I had only ever seen reproductions, until this show.

This is the eleventh patch of my ‘London Exhibition Patchwork’. It is a patchwork made from leaflets of exhibitions I have visited in London. There are sixteen squares in total.

You can see the whole piece here and in my shop, or you can follow my progress on Instagram, if you are so inclined.
