Storm Doris Is Finished

I have finished ‘Storm Doris Is Coming’, which was started on February 1st, 2017. It’ll be a while before I tackle another month’s-worth of news. (Will be posting ‘Fake News Is Killing Minds’, shortly, if you were wondering what happened to it).

If you are new to this project, you can find an explanation here.

It is listed in my shop, and I am now going to have a cup of tea.

Storm Doris Is Coming At Some Point

I have completed the 28 days of February (2017), I just need to add the first day of March and the last day of January.

Storm Doris Is Still Coming

Eighteen Squares done, twelve to go.

Storm Doris Is Coming

Just started assembling ‘Storm Doris Is Coming’, my second ‘February News’ piece. So much easier this time, as I’m sewing onto fabric rather than thick card.

My friend, Cathy, gave me the fabric quite a long time ago.

Four Squares done, twenty-six to go.

All of my work is individually numbered, this piece is 816.

I am aware that I haven’t posted a picture of ‘Fake News Is Killing Minds’ in its finished state, but London has been rather dark and I have been unable to take a decent photograph.

Storm Doris Is Coming and Fake News Is Killing Minds, 1

alisonsye817-1b

I have been recording the news every day since the beginning of the year.

Due to high volumes of notes, photographs and sewn patches, I have become unable to think straight.

January has already gone under the water, but February still has a chance of climbing into the lifeboat if I throw it the rope immediately.

So here goes, don’t know quite yet how this is going to come together, what with the 28 days not conveniently making themselves into a square. I do know, though, that these little daily patches will eventually become 2 pieces of work. One will be titled, ‘Storm Doris Is Coming’ and the other, ‘Fake News Is Killing Minds’.

Links to the various news stories are at the end of the post.

Each square represents a different day in February, the sewn number being the date.

As always, everything came from the bin, and no readable books or wearable clothes were used.

It has taken me five hours to gather the information for this post (double that now that I’ve added the news links). No idea why I give myself such tasks, when I’d rather be finishing the actual artwork.

You can see less laboured updates on my Instagram feed.

The origins of the papers I used for days 1 – 4 can be seen below.

The other days can be seen here: 5-8,  9-12,  13-16,  17-20,  21-24, and, 25-28.
